Epop energy lollopop launched
as a lozenge

Epop, the award-winning New Zealand developed Energy Lollipop, is now available as an energy lozenge in convenient packs of eight. Each Epop lozenge contains Guarana, Taurine, Caffeine, and seven B Vitamins, providing the user with a rapid energy boost.

The 10-gram Epop lollipop provides a convenient single-serve energy boost similar to that offered by better quality energy drinks. The eight-pack of 4.5 gram Epop lozenges provides the added benefit of enabling the consumer to simply eat as many lozenges as desired to attain the degree of energy lift they seek. For example, someone feeling especially tired, or a frequent coffee drinker with a higher tolerance to caffeine, simply needs to consume more epop lozenges.

As a convenient take-anywhere, have-anytime source of energy, the epop lozenge is ideal for office workers seeking an afternoon boost, students who are studying, and those working late such as shift workers, and truck and taxi drivers. It is also proving popular as a pre-exercise energy boost before heading to the gym, say Vivesco Limited, developer of the epop of energy confectionery.

Current flavours include lemon, and mint, which has the added benefit of freshening the user’s breath. Vivesco plans to expand the range with other flavours over time.
The epop lozenge is available from health stores, pharmacies and bottle stores, and is distributed by Wellington-based Urban Products Limited. Plans are underway to launch the lozenge in Australia and serious enquiries have been received from companies in many countries including the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Hong Kong and even Mexico.

Background

The epop lollipop won two awards in the prestigious 2002 Massey University Food Awards: Trade New Zealand Snacks and Confectionery Category and the New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology Speciality Award. Since launch in December 2001, more than150,000 epop lollipops have been sold, with a one-off shipment of 20,000 sent to Sydney, Australia. The Epop energy confectionery concept was developed by Vivesco Limited, a wholly New Zealand-owned company based in Auckland.
